Diaz (17-9) last competed at the Ultimate Fighter 18 finale when he settled the score with Gray Maynard in a rubber match. Diaz defeated him with a first round TKO.
Nate Diaz’s management has yet to reply to a statement request from SciFighting but his manager Mike Kogan told MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani that they’ll have no further comment on Diaz’s tweet or his request at this time”
Diaz is rumored to have been selected for an assistant coaching position with his brother Nick and his longtime training partner Jake Shields as they help TUF 20 coach and another longtime friend, Gilbert Melendez. Contract issues were just resolved with Melendez as well who was announced for the TUF 20 position after his contract terms were matched by the UFC after Bellator MMA offered him a contract during his free agency.
The UFC has also not released a statement on Diaz’s request.
