Fedor Emelianenko, widely regarded as one of the best mixed martial artists of all time, may not be returning to the cage, but he is returning to an ex-love.
Emelianenko, who went a decade undefeated and reigned as the PRIDE FC heavyweight champion, remarried his first wife, Oksana, in a Valentine’s Day weekend ceremony.
The two first married in 1999, when they had a daughter, before divorcing 7 years later.
Emelianenko married again in 2009, before divorcing. He then remarried Oksana this weekend.
“He divorced six months ago and returned to his first family, now making it official with this wedding,” Emelianenko’s manager Vadim Finkelstein told FightersOnlyMag.com.
Emelianenko was the big fish who got away, never signing with the UFC although he was for a time the sport’s biggest draw. The UFC pushed to sign Emelianenko to fight Brock Lesnar in what would have been the biggest fight in MMA history.
The UFC and Emelianenko never agreed to a deal. Emelianenko went on to fight for Strikeforce, where his reign as MMA king came to an end when he was tapped out by Fabricio Werdum in San Jose, California.
Emelianenko lost two more fights after that, but then retired after three straight wins, returning to his homeland of Russia.
