UFC Fight Night 36 Results: Charles Oliveira Submits Andy Ogle

The first fight of the main card pitted Brazilian native Charles Oliveira against Englishman, Andy Ogle. Two young fighters who were looking to get back in to the win column against one another in a fight that will mean a step up for one, and a huge fall down the ranks for another.

Oliveira has dropped the last two fights, the most recent to Frankie Edgar in mid-2013. Ogle’s last outing was a decision loss to Cole Miller last October.

Round 1: Ogle opens the bout charging forward with punches. Oliveira lands an easy takedown and moves directly into the mount. Ogle gives up his back and stands. Oliveira is hanging onto his back like a monkey. Oliveira is searching for the rear-naked choke. Oliveira brings Ogle back to the mat. Ogle trying to escape but Oliveira’s body triangle is too strong. The round ends there. SciFighting scores the round 10-9 Oliveira. 

Round 2: Oliveira shoots for another takedown to begin the round but gets stuffed. Ogle reverses another Oliveira takedown and ends up in the Brazilian’s guard. Oliveira gets back to his feet and quickly lands a takedown. Ogle works his way back to the cage and stands. Oliveira shoots for a takedown but gets reversed in the process. Ogle leaves his neck open and gets caught in a d’arce choke. Ogle escapes and nearly takes Oliveira’s back. Both men stand up and Ogle pushes Oliveira’s back to the cage. Ogle lifts Oliveira high in the air and slams him to the ground. Ogle lands a hard elbow in Oliveira’s guard. Ogle moves to side control. Oliveira stands and ends up taking Ogle’s back. SciFighting scores the round 10-9 Oliveira.

Round 3: Oliveria drops Ogle early and nearly locks in a rear-naked choke. Ogle pushes Oliveria to the cage and lands a takedown. Oliveira stands just seconds after being taken down. Oliveira lands a takedown but Ogle reverses again and ends up in Oliveira’s guard. Ogle gets caught in a triangle choke and taps immediately! Huge win for ‘Do Bronx.’

Official Result: Charles Oliveira def. Andy Ogle via submission (triangle choke) at 2:40 of round three.
