We reported late yesterday evening that Thiago Silva had been involved in an armed stand-off with police after confronting a Brazilian Jiu-jitsu instructor for suspected adultery with his wife. Once he was apprehended we immediately contacted the Broward County sheriff’s department to confirm details of the report although he had not yet arrived for booking.
Details have now emerged that Mr. Silva has been charged with aggravated battery and resisting an officer. In addition to the public shame this renown champion already faces a copy of his mug shot (seen above) has been circulating the internet.
The UFC also updated their statement on Silva, terminating his contract with the promotion:
Given the nature of the event and his arrest it is uncertain if Silva will be remanded to custody or released on bail.
