Gabriel Gonzaga was full steam ahead going in to his UFC on FOX 10 co-main event fight with Stipe Miocic. Fresh off two straight knockout wins, Gonzaga (16-8) needed just a few more impressive performances to truly break in to contender status. Instead, a lackluster performance against Miocic led to a unanimous decision loss and a kick back down the ladder.
Luckily (or unluckily) for Gonzaga, his performance Saturday night may have been slightly dictated by a badly broken hand. Gonzaga’s punching output dropped dramatically as the fight went on and didn’t seem to carry the significant shots he had come in to previous bouts with. Gonzaga’s often criticized cardio was initially blamed and while that might have taken it’s toll, the hand surely didn’t help.
Gonzaga, clearly upset, posted to Twitter the tweet below, confirming the injury.
Lost broke hand

Gonzaga then went on to post a photo on his Facebook page a photo of the x-ray which shows his broken hand.
The fight was Gonzaga’s second loss since returning to the UFC with the first coming from Travis Browne who knocked Gonzaga out in the first round of their April 2013 bout.
No word on whether or not Gonzaga will need corrective surgery to repair the hand or not but the break looks bad. Hopefully ‘Napao’ will make a quick turnaround and jump back in to the heavyweight division which seems to become a bit more crowded each day.
