UFC on FOX 10 Results: Jeremy Stephens Dominates Darren Elkins En Route to Decision Win

The first bout of the main card was a featherweight fight between Darren Elkins and Jeremy Stephens (22-9).

Stephens is undefeated since dropping to featherweight and most recently, knocked Rony Jason out in under a minute of their November bout.

Elkins is 5-1 since moving to 145 and will try to get his second win in three fights. This post will update as the fight ends, in real-time.

Round 1: Elkins looked for that takedown as everyone exoected. Stephens was ready to defend it and stalked Elkins while loading his punches up in the hopes to stop Elkins. Elkins slipped coming in and fell on to his back. Stephens jumped on top of him but didn’t stay there long, just long enough to land a big elbow on Elkins. Elkins finally got Stephens tied up against the cage but couldn’t bring him to the ground. Stephens bit down when he would wing punches in. Elkins tried to answer but his striking fell short of what Stephens brought to the table.

Round 2: The first combination that Stephens threw rocked Elkins. Elkins staggered around the cage as he tried to recover. He got his composure back but Stephens could feel the shift in Elkins posture. Elkins would wander in to the range of Stephens who welcomed him with combinations and sent him right back out. Elkins couldn’t hold on to Stephens and when it came to landing his punches, he couldn’t match Stephens. It was another one-sided round and Elkins had nothing for threaten Stephens with.

Round 3: Elkins almost had Stephens in a guillotine choke but his brief success was stifled by Stephens. They went back to the feet and Stephens wasted no time getting back to punching Elkins in his face. Elkins pretty much abandoned his wrestling after not being able to get a single takedown yet. Stephens just walked him down and landed when he wanted to. Elkins thought that Stephens was hurt and chased him down as if to finish the fight. Stephens backed up and didn’t let Elkins take advantage. Elkins sunk in a guillotine from top half guard to end the round but it was too little, too late.

Official Result: Jeremy Stepehens defeats Darren Elkins via Unanimous Decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
