Along with the news of Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson joining the season 10 light heavyweight tournament, Bjorn Rebney also confirmed that the trilogy bout between lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Michael Chandler would also take place sometime this year.
While he couldn’t confirm if it would happen before or after the Season 10 lightweight finals, he did confirm that Chandler will get the next shot and also that it will be a PPV.
Rebney confirmed while taking to the press and asked by SciFighting, “I’m fortunate to be the guy who is going to be able to put on Chandler vs. Alvarez 3 for the lightweight world title. It will be a pay-per-view event.”
I pushed the topic in talking about a price point for the PPV, “Price point-wise, we’re going to apply the same philosophy we did last time. We’re going to look to our affiliate partners around the country. We’re going to look to everybody from the Time Warner, the iN DEMANDs, the Direct TVs and the others and let them work with us as partners to determine the appropriate price point for it,” said Rebney. “You’ll see different price points around the country.”
The official Twitter account of Bellator posted a photo with the two men conducting a staredown as they prepared for Season 10. The announcement came with few details however and although a venue hasn’t yet been set, Bjorn Rebney expressed his approval of the Revel Resort in Atlantic City as a spot for future events, though not necessarily, Alvarez/Chandler 3.
Rebney targeted the end of Season 10 as a home for an event at the Revel resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, “Revel will be one of those events at the tail end of the season. Revel has been an amazing casino partner to us. We will absolutely be back at Revel this season.”
