The main event was finally upon us as a lightweight champion would be crowned. Undefeated finisher Justin Gaethje (10-0) took on Rich Patishnock (6-1).

A win would instantly propel the victor into MMA relevancy as the best 155-pounder in the WSOF.

Round 1: No time wasted at all as Gaethje opened with a flying knee and they went all out. Gaethje hurt Patishnock badly and never let up. Even when Gaethje was being hit back, he didn’t slow down, he didn’t back up. He found every angle and even threw a spinning back fist while Patishnock was basically out up against the cage. It was a brutal beating and while Patishnock gave it his all while he was conscious, it just wasn’t enough and he went out on his feet, staring blankly at Gaethje.

Official Result: Justin Gaethje defeats Rich Patishnock via TKO (punches) at 1:09 of Round 1.

Gaethje becomes the inaugural WSOF lightweight champion with this win.
