On January 6th, former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz was arrested on suspicion of D.U.I. when his 2012 Porsche Panamera crashed in to concrete median at around 4:30 PST.
Fortunately, neither Ortiz nor his two passengers were injured in the crash. Ortiz was taken in to custody by the California Highway Patrol where he posted the $15,000 bail and was released after a series of tests to determine if he was intoxicated.
While there is no word on official sentencing as we wait for a January 27th court date, photos of his Porsche have been released by TMZ Sports early Tuesday. While the report on TMZ says the car sustained ‘serious damage’ it would appear as though a broken fender on the passenger side and some heavy scratches on the back would be the extent of the damage to his car.
What is important is that Ortiz and his passengers are safe. Ortiz was forced to pull out of his last fight against Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson on the planned PPV at Bellator 106 due to a fractured neck. No return date has been set and will not likely be so until his legal woes are sorted out.
His last fight was in July of 2012 when he fought Forrest Griffin in the co-main event of UFC 162. He lost that fight via unanimous decision. After the fight, Ortiz announced his retirement until he was pegged as an opponent for Jackson who had already publicly announced joining Bellator.
