While it isn’t a promise for an official return to the Octagon, former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva posted via his official Instagram that he will recover from his injury. He also thanked his fans for all of their affection shown to him.
“Muito obrigado pelo carinho de todos, vou ficar bom eu prometo a vocês que vou ..” which roughly translates to “Thank you for the affection of all, I’ll be good I promise you that I will.”
The photo that accompanies his promise features himself during what looks like a session of physical therapy which he has already started.
Silva broke both his tibia and fibula as he kicked Chris Weidman’s leg in a title losing effort in the main event of UFC 168.
Last week, Silva’s manager Jorge Guimaraes stated that ‘The Spider’ will return to TMZ Sports. He went on to say that Silva had started physical therapy after his second X-ray came back with a positive outlook on the recovery of the bone and the undamaged nerves in his leg.
Silva’s trainer Pedro Rizzo also stated that Silva would be back. “I will be back master,” Silva was reported to say to Rizzo. Rizzo shared Silva’s words with MMAFighting.
“He has everything to come back to fighting if he wants. He has a good head to handle all the pressure from the UFC through all these years. Anderson will decide that. He just broke a leg, he has a lot of things to think now. He has nothing left to prove inside the Octagon. But if he decides to fight again, we will be there to help him.”
