Former Strikeforce welterweight champion Tarec Saffiedine made a successful UFC debut, defeating Hyun Gyu Lim at UFC Singapore.
Saffiedine turned heads with his wicked leg striking in his UFC debut. His fight with Lim was a solid back and forth exchange, with both fighters looking good. The fight earned the two “Fight of the Night” honors.
Saffiedine and Lim each earned $50,000 for “Fight of the Night” honors.
In other awards, Max Holloway won Knockout of the Night honors and Russell Doane won Submission of the Night. Both fighters won $50,000 for the awards.
The show marked the debut of the UFC in Singapore, part of a massive Asian expansion for the UFC. The UFC is looking to hold several shows in Asia in 2014.
UFC Singapore was launched with the debut of the UFC Fight Pass, the organization’s new digital network, which offers the entire UFC, Strikeforce, WEC and PRIDE libraries. The UFC will also begin to stream its prelims on the network, as well as special live events, such as UFC Singapore.
The network for now is available on desktops and laptops, but the UFC is looking to expand the mediums the network is available.
