The UFC’s return to China is official and will be headlined by a welterweight bout between South Korean Dong-Hyun Kim and Englishman John Hathaway.
UFC officials announced the card today as a part of a special press conference that took place before the UFC Singapore card.
The Card will be broadcast live on the UFC’s Fight Pass digital network March 1st from the Venitian Macao’s CotaiArena
Dong-Hyun Kim (18-2-1) made his UFC debut in May of 2008 with a TKO victory over Jason Tan. Kim then took out Matt Brown by split decision. After having a split decision loss to Karo Parisyan overturned, Kim ran off a three fight winning streak beating TJ Grant, Amir Sadollah, and Nate Diaz en-route to a bout with top contender Carlos Condit. Condit handed Kim his first loss via first round knockout. Since the Condit loss, Kim has gone 4-1 with victories over Sean Pierson, Paulo Thiago, Siyar Bahadurzada, and a vicious knockout of surging Erick Silva. Kim’s only loss in that run was a freakish TKO due to injury against Demian Maia.
John Hathaway (17-1) first burst onto the scene with decision wins over Rick Story and Paul Taylor before dominating longtime UFC Veteran Diego Sanchez. Hathaway was looked at as one of the most exciting up and comers in all of Mixed Martial Arts before he ran into a gutsy Mike Pyle who bested him by decision. Since the loss to Pyle, Hathaway has also built up a three fight winning streak with decision victories over Paulo Thiago, Siyar Bahadurzada, and most recently John Maguire. Hathaway will look to return after a year and a half layoff against the tough Kim.
