Kelvin Gastelum was begging for a chance at top welterweight Rick Story. His wish will come true as he now has a fight with Story at UFC 171 March 15th in Dallas, Texas.

The UFC’s official news twitter announced the bout late Friday night.

After running through the Ultimate Fighter house with three consecutive finishes, Gastelum faced off with highly touted Uriah Hall in the show’s middleweight finale. Gastelum bested the vaunted Hall by Split Decision. Shortly after his fight with Hall, Gastelum dropped to 170 pounds and made huge waves submitting Brian Melancon early in the first round of their August 2013 bout.

Rick Story was thought of as a future title challenger in 2011. After reeling off a six fight winning streak including unanimous decision wins over Thiago Alves and Johny Hendricks, Story lost to relatively unknown Charlie Brenneman derailing his quest to the title. Since the bout with Brenneman, Story has gone 3-3 and recently picked up a unanimous decision win over Brian Ebersole last November.

UFC 171 is headlined by a bout for the vacant UFC Welterweight Title between Johny Hendricks and Robbie Lawler.

Daniel Reveles
Born and raised in Santa Barbara, California, Daniel Reveles' interest in Mixed Martial Arts began at the age of fourteen while attending a Fantasy Football draft at a Friend's house. That day Daniel's buddies ordered UFC 88 on Pay-Per-View featuring lauded striker and hometown hero Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell squaring off with Division One Wrestler “Suga” Rashad Evans. After seeing “the wrestler” Rashad Evans put the Ice Man out cold with an overhand right, Daniel became instantly hooked by the unpredictability of the sport. Since that moment Daniel has become well versed in Mixed Martial Arts History and has yet to miss an event. Daniel is currently studying at the University of California Santa Barbara to receive his Bachelor's Degree in Communications with hopes of becoming the next big media mogul. When he is not watching MMA or studying you can find Daniel hanging out with his family and friends or taking in a game at the lovely Dodger Stadium.
