Having most recently defeated Lyoto Machida (20-4) at UFC 163, Phil Davis is now looking to take out another top Brazilian light heavyweight.
According to a report by Bloody Elbow, Ariel Helwani confirmed that Davis’ coach said they would love a fight with Mauricio Rua (22-8).
Rua just came out of a two-fight losing streak by knocking out James Te Huna (16-7) at UFC Fight Night 33. Prior to the bout, UFC President Dana White said that he would have told the Brazilian legend to retire if he lost that fight. Rua, himself, had also said that he was considering a move to middleweight after the Te Huna fight. However, he recently confirmed that he intends to stay at light heavyweight, so a fight with Davis could be a likely prospect.
As of yet, the UFC has not confirmed the next opponents for both Rua and Davis.
