UFC fighter Matt Grice was involved in a serious car accident earlier this year that nearly ended his life.

While stopped at a red light, he was rear ended by a distracted driver going at a high speed. The severity of Grice’s injuries sent him straight into emergency surgery, and in subsequent operations, part of his skull was removed.

Luckily, Grice’s recovery is moving along quickly, and recently, doctors were successful in reattaching that piece of his skull.

Prior to the accident, Grice had picked up a 1-2 record during his second stint in the UFC, including a win over Leonard Garcia. He is 15-5 in his MMA career, and has been awarded the “Fight of the Night” bonus twice.

While Grice still has a lot of recuperation to do, he hasn’t ruled out an eventual return to competition. We at SciFighting wish him all the best.
