Demetrious Johnson is a UFC champion, and undefeated in his weight class. Unfortunately, the flyweight division doesn’t get much love from the fans, and despite his title, Johnson still finds himself headlining TV cards instead of PPV’s.

“Mighty Mouse” isn’t insulted though, and says he sees the value in competing in the FOX Sports events.

“I like fighting on FOX,” he said in a recent interview with MMAjunkie. “I don’t want to say I’ve graduated from there. It’s a great platform for me to get noticed by everybody, and I could do a lot more growing up on FOX as well.”

The interview points out that seven of Johnson’s nine UFC fights have taken place at free televised events, which means that despite the flyweight division’s relative newcomer status, he still has a lot of fans.

The champ hopes that this growing popularity will eventually lead to a bigger events in his future.

“[Pay-per-view] is a product of me fighting on FOX and hoping they like me,” he said. “I know when GSP first came out, nobody knew who he was or liked him. But then eventually people started to grow to love him, and everybody loves GSP now.”
