Jon Jones Celebrates Getting His Driver’s License Reinstated with a Little Song

Jon Jones is back in the driver’s seat after his license was reinstated last Wednesday. While most people would simply be happy in having their driving privileges back, Jones expressed his excitement through song.

“I just got my license back. Got my license back. Got my license back, from the DMV. I got my license back,” Jones sang via a video uploaded to his Instagram page. Walking out of the DMV building and into an open car door, he said, “Yeah, your boy got his driver’s license. Holla at ya …”

Jones was arrested May 19, 2012 after driving his car into a pole in Binghamton, New York; the accident coming less than a month after defeating Rashad Evans at UFC 145. He plead guilty to driving while intoxicated, resulting in a six month suspension and over $1,000 in fines.

The car Jones crashed was a Bentley, but according to his manager, “He’s really into pickups. He wants a sporty truck. But who knows. He could change his mind and want a Ferrari tomorrow.”

The UFC Light Heavyweight Champion could have regained his driving privileges last January, but training for three fights in the last year may not have left much time for a trip to the DMV. Following victories over Vitor Belfort and Chael Sonnen, Jones narrowly defended his title against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 165 last September. Many consider it the fight of the year and a rematch is expected sometime in late 2014.

Over the weekend, UFC President Dana White announced that Jones will defend his title against Glover Teixeira at UFC 172.
