The gambling gods have spoken.
Johny Hendricks (15-2) is currently the betting favorite against Robbie Lawler (22-9) in their UFC 171 welterweight title fight.

It’s also important to consider that these numbers will change as time passes and more gamblers play the odds.
Many mixed martial arts fans consider Hendricks to be the #1 welterweight in the world after his controversial split decision loss to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 167. Besides a unanimous decision loss to Rick Story in 2010, “Big Rigg” has mopped up the entire UFC welterweight division.
The thirty year old Oklahoman holds victories over other top welterweights like Jon Fitch, Josh Koscheck, Martin Kampmann, and Carlos Condit. With St-Pierre on a break, it’s unclear if Hendricks will ever get his shot at the Canadian legend ever again. Even so, he can still get the belt if he beats Robbie Lawler.
Having most recently defeated the heavily favored Rory MacDonald (15-2) at UFC 167, Lawler is riding a three-fight winning streak going into his bout against Hendricks. The same night Hendricks dropped a split decision to St-Pierre, Lawler won a split decision by besting St-Pierre’s most highly praised teammate.
Prior to his win over MacDonald, the thirty-one year old scored two back-to-back knockouts over Josh Koscheck and Bobby Voelker. His latest performances in the octagon have been impressive enough for UFC officials to grant him a title shot.
UFC 171 takes place on March 15th at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas.
