After a split decision loss to Johnson for the UFC flyweight championship, Joseph Benavidez has a chance at redemption and revenge against the lightning fast Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson.
Benavidez, 19-3, lost a split decision to Johnson, 18-2, in 2012.
Round 1: Johnson is jumping around all over the place. He went for a takedown, but Benavidez fought it off. Johnson caught him with a head kick.
Johnson caught Benavidez with a right hand out of nowhere, dropping the challenger like a ton of bricks. He pounced on him with a few quick right hands and the referee stopped the fight. Benavidez was knocked out cold from the punch.
Unlike the reaction when Faber won by submission, the Sacramento crowd was stunned after Johnson got the KO victory.
The end for Benavidez came at 2:18 of the first round.
The knockout was the fastest in the history of the UFC flyweight division.
