Court McGee vs. Ryan LaFlare

The featured preliminary bout for the UFC on FOX 9 show was a bloody war which pushed both fighters to the brink. It was a close bout but one that needed a winner, unfortunately, given that both men poured their heart in to the fight.

Official Decision: LaFlare defeats McGee via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

Danny Castillo vs. Edson Barboza

Castillo won the first round, easily, as he rocked Barboza with a heavy combination just before dragging him to the mat and pounding on him. The second round was Barboza’s who brought back his disgusting leg kicks. Barboza got some revenge in the second, dropping Castillo with a left hook. The final round was anyone’s guess.

Official Decision: Barboza defeats Castillo via majority decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)

Bobby Green vs. Pat Healy

Scintillating head movement from Green mixed with Healy’s indomitable spirit and granite chin made for a more than watchable affair. Green used a fast, twitching jab mixed with a perfectly time cross several times over to stifle the grinding offense of Healy.

Official Decision: Green defeats Healy via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

Scott Jorgenson vs. Zach Makovsky

Former RFA champion, Makovsky took on Jorgenson who was debuting at flyweight. Makovsky’s technical brilliance was shown early. Makovsky shined too early and often for Jorgenson however, and stole a late-notice decision win.

Official Decision: Makovsky defeats Jorgenson via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Sam Stout vs. Cody McKenzie

Body shots dictated the predominantly stand up affair between Stout and McKenzie. Stout never looked to finish though and was content with picking McKenzie apart on the feet, grabbing an obvious decision win.

Official Decision: Stout defeats McKenzie via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Abel Trujillo vs. Roger Bowling

An uber-aggressive Trujillo never let Bowling find his footing, regardless of where the fight ended up.

Official Decision: Trujillo defeats Bowling via TKO at 1:35 of Round 2.

Darren Uyenoyama vs. Alptekin Ozkilic

A close and exciting flyweight opener saw Ozkilic grab a win in his UFC debut. Both men had flashes of success yet Ozkilic did just enough in the judges’ eyes to grab the split decision.

Official Decision: Ozkilic defeats Uyenoyama via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)
