A lightweight bout between Diego Sanchez (24-6) and Myles Jury (13-0) is expected to be added to the UFC 171 card in March.
Jury, the undefeated former contestant on The Ultimate Fighter will take a huge step up in competition when he squares off against Sanchez. Jury last defeat Mike Ricci by decision and will look for what would clearly be the biggest test of his career.
Sanchez looks for redemption in the Octagon after losing a Fight of the Year candidate against Gilbert Melendez in a fight which Sanchez thought he deserved the nod in. Sanchez has four ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus’ in his last five bouts. This bout is a must win for Sanchez, not because a loss may send him packing, but instead due to where these two men stand in the division.
This fight announcement via @UFCNews comes just a day after Sanchez signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC. Sanchez, however says that the fight isn’t finalized and that he is waiting for the right opponent (via his official Twitter account):
UFC 171 takes place in on March 15th at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The card is headlined by a light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Glover Teixeira.
