Up and coming MMA promotion WSOF has had a fantastic 2013. It played host to some memorable bouts and has established itself as a container for some serious talent in the world of MMA.

Their most recent show was their international debut as they held an event in Canada and crowned their second promotional champion, this one at featherweight.

Their expansion will only continue in 2014 as WSOF president Ray Sefo expects his promotion to makes its debut in Asia early next year. That location is Japan, the former mecca of MMA.

The World Series of Fighting has partnered up with Japanese promotion Pancrase earlier this year opening up the door to expand their brand around the world.

“Right now there’s no definite date [for Japan],” Sefo told MMAjunkie on the WSOF 7 conference call. “We are looking at the end of March, early April.”

Sefo also stated that a few WSOF shows in 2014 will take place on NBC, it is not yet known though if the Japanese debut will be:

“Of course every show won’t be on the mother ship of NBC, but a few of those shows will most likely be on NBC for sure.”
