The Ultimate Fighter 18 finale main event card kicked off with the UFC’s Raquel Pennington vs. Roxanne Modafferi.
Pennington, a member of Team Tate, won a unanimous decision, in a fight she controlled from the opening bell.
The two UFC fighters kept the fight in the standup for the entire first round. Both fighters were busy. Pennington landed a right hand that seemed to wobble Modafferi at the end of the round.
Modafferi tried a takedown early in second round, bout Pennington stuffed it.
Pennington took Modafferi down with about three minutes left in round two, but Modafferi locked her up in her guard, trying for a triangle choke.
Pennington eventually pulled away and the referee stood them up. Pennington rocked Modafferi with a few punches to end round two.
Pennington controlled the third round, dominating from on top and nearly choking Modafferi out at the end of the round.
Two judges scored the fight 30-27 and the final judge scored it 29-28, all for Pennington.
