Bellator has signed a featherweight fighter with some impressive wrestling credentials.
Undefeated prospect Darrion Caldwell is a former NCAA Division I national champion, and currently holds a 3-0 record in MMA. He’s signed a “long term deal,” according to Bellator, although the specifics of his contract were not revealed.
“Everything just really fell into place for me to sign with a prestigious organization like Bellator,” Caldwell said in a statement. “I’m really embracing this opportunity. During our talks, the tournament format is something I thought about a lot, and that’s what I always grew up with being a Division I wrestler. I’m used to looking at a bracket and seeing my name against another fighter, so I’m absolutely looking forward to my first tournament run.”
Most recently, the 25-year old won a unanimous decision over Gerzan Chaw at Legacy FC 21 earlier this year. He currently trains at Power MMA and Fitness with fighters such as C.B. Dollaway and Ryan Bader.
