Apparently, former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson isn’t a huge fan of current champ Jon Jones.
According to Fighters Only Magazine, Rampage recently weighed in on Jones vs. Glover Teixeira at a media scrum in Brazil.
“I think Glover is gonna win. I’m supporting him and I’m betting on him. Jon Jones is an excellent fighter but he doesn’t always put on a show for the fans so they aren‘t always happy with him,” he said.
In the past, Jackson has lost to both Jones and Teixeira. So why does he only hold a grudge against Jones?
“He is a great athlete. He is also one of the dirtiest opponents I have fought. If I could, I would break his knee for him so doesn’t fight ever again.”
The thirty-five year old also expressed interest in fighting his friend and former training partner Tito Ortiz.
“I know Tito had a very serious injury but I want this fight to happen and I am going to carry on working towards that. I want to fight him, badly” he says.
The two were originally scheduled to face off at Bellator 106 on November 2nd, but Ortiz was forced to withdraw from the bout due to a serious neck injury. As a result, Rampage ended up fighting Joey Beltran at Bellator 108 on November 15th, winning by TKO in the first round.
Jones has yet to comment on Rampage’s latest allegations of him being a “dirty” fighter, and it’s probably not likely that he will. Rampage no longer fights under the UFC banner and Jones already decisively beat him once in 2011, so right now, he’s the least of the champ’s problems in the light heavyweight division.
As for the future prospects of an Ortiz vs. Jackson event, Bellator has not made any official announcements.
