The UFC heavyweight division is quickly becoming the UFC’s most stacked weight class. One of the former champions of that division now stands on the shores of his second consecutive loss. That former champ is Antonio ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira.
For his return to the Octagon, Nogueira recently played matchmaker and expressed his interest in fighting Roy ‘Big Country’ Nelson in a pivotal fight for both men.
“I’m totally interested in this fight,” Nogueira told MMAFighting.com. “(Nelson) is a tough athlete and is always fighting the tops. I would like to fight him. He has a heavy hand and would be a good challenge.
“I’ll be recovered from my injury by the end of the year,” he added. “Ligament injuries require six months to recover, so I can’t come back before that. So before I’m able to return to training, I’m focused in my gym.”
No word on if that bout is also targeted by the UFC yet, but it certainly makes sense to make.
