Glory 12 Main Event: Barrett Edges Schilling in Classic Bout

The main event at Glory 12 was a battle of young, talented fighters as California’s Joe Schilling took on New York’s own Wayne Barrett.

Barrett found his range early in the fight, landing nice jabs and hooks on the end of his counters and combinations. Schilling play a showman in this round dropping his hands to signal what he believed was an apprehensive Barrett, although Barrett had indeed dictated much of the round and landed some clean shots.

To the delight of the New York crowd, their fighter, Barrett scored a knockdown in this round. Schilling answered the count but Barrett knew he had him hurt. Barrett never let up and made Schilling dig deep. At the end of the round, Barrett landed another big shot that dropped Schilling to the mat for the second time.

Schilling showed his indomitable spirit in the third as he never let up and never backed away from Barrett. Schilling even dropped Barrett in this round making the decision one that could have gone either way. Both men landed and maintained pace and focus in the third leading to one of the best fights of the evening.
