Soon after UFC officials announced that Jon Jones would be facing Glover Teixeira at UFC 170, the champ revealed he wouldn’t be able to meet that deadline due to a foot injury he sustained from his historic bout against Alexander Gustafsson back in September.
According to MMAWeekly.com, Jones’ Manager, Malki Kawa, told UFC Tonight that Jones will be taking the rest of this year off in order to recover from his injury. The champ is hopeful that he will resume training sometime in January.
Meanwhile, Jones’ rival, Alexander Gustafsson, will be training for his bout against Jimi Manuwa on March 8th in England.
If Jones’ recovery goes as expected and he resumes training in January, he expects to fight sometime in March or April.
