Ronaldo Souza vs Francis Carmont Set as the Co-Main Event of UFC Fight Night 36


According to @UFCNews, a middleweight bout between Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza (19-3, 1 NC) and Francis Carmont has been added to the UFC Fight Night 36: Machida vs. Mousasi card in Brazil.

French native, Francis Carmont (22-7) is returning from the biggest win of his career over Costa Philippou which helped him crack the top ten in the division as he now sits at #8 according to UFC.com.

For Souza, a statement TKO win over longtime middleweight contender Yushin Okami marked his last appearance in the Octagon. This will be the third straight time that Souza fights in his native Brazil during his current three-fight run in the UFC

UFC Fight Night 36 was originally scheduled to take place on February 8th but has been moved back a week to February 15th.

The event will take place at The Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Brazil. The headliner is another middleweight bout which could declare the future opponent for all four men mentioned in the article above between Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi.

This fight will mark Machida’s second in the division after knocking out Mark Munoz, and Mousasi’s second fight in the UFC.
