Just one day after the announcement that he would face Glover Teixeira at UFC 170, Jon Jones pulled out of the bout with no explanation.

Speculation ran rampant, but neither Jones nor the UFC would officially comment on the reason behind the sudden scheduling change.

Following Saturday’s event though, UFC president Dana White confirmed to MMAjunkie.com that Jones was still recovering from his title defense against Alexander Gustafsson in September.

“Jon Jones went back in the gym and just didn’t feel good,” White explained. “He said his legs were still bothering him and his eye is bothering him. He still banged up from that fight.”

“That fight wasn’t that long ago,” he added. “It’s like being in a car accident.”

White also stated that currently, the UFC was unsure what date the match up will be rescheduled for.
