UFC Officials recently announced that current lightweight champ Anthony Pettis withdrew from his scheduled FOX 9 bout against Josh Thomson due to an injured knee. This forced the UFC to rearrange their schedule and move some fights around. The fight between Pettis and Thomson has been replaced by a bout between Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez as FOX 9’s new main event.

Consequently, a third fight between lightweights Nate Diaz and Gray Manard will now be the TUF 18 Finale’s main event instead of the co-main event. Because the fight was promoted to main event on such short notice, the UFC has stated it will remain three rounds (main events in the UFC are usually five rounds).

The first time Maynard and Diaz faced off was during the fifth season of TUF, and Diaz walked away with a submission victory. In 2010, Maynard surprised Diaz by beating him via split decision. Now, Diaz will finally get a chance to settle the score against his rival.

The TUF 18 Finale is scheduled to take place on November 30th at Mandalay Bay Events Center, Las Vegas, Nevada.
