With a huge win over Dan Henderson at last weekend’s UFC Fight Night 32, Vitor Belfort has finally earned another crack at the title.
At the post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White stated that barring any injuries, Belfort will fight the winner of Chris Weidman vs Anderson Silva for the middleweight title.
Dana says that barring injury or something crazy, Vitor will next fight the winner of Weidman/Silva 2.

Since returning to the UFC in 2009, Belfort has had a very strange run. He’s lost title fights at both middleweight and light heavyweight, yet has beaten some of the best in both divisions. In fact, those two title fight losses are his only two defeats in that eight fight run.
In the win column, Belfort has finished each of his opponents, knocking out fighters like Rich Franklin, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Michael Bisping, and most recently, #6 ranked LHW Dan Henderson.
Now it seems that despite his latest win being at light heavyweight, the UFC can’t ignore Belfort’s pleas for a title shot any longer.
Weidman and Silva will have their rematch in December, making mid to late 2014 likely for Belfort’s shot at the title.
