Jon Jones has been included in AskMen’s “Most Influential Men of 2013” list.
This year, the light heavyweight champion beat the record for the most consecutive title defenses in the division’s history, became one of the few MMA fighters to have a Nike sponsorship, and landed a spot on the cover of the UFC video game.
According to AskMen.com, Jones made the list because:
“In 2011, Jon Jones became the UFC’s youngest-ever world champion, and his career has only progressed from there. UFC President Dana White has called him the “most accomplished” light-heavyweight fighter ever, and, on September 21st, he quieted any doubters after emerging victorious from an epic battle with Alexander Gustafsson. He will next defend his title from Glover Teixeira, though no date has been confirmed yet. As Jones continues to contend with challengers, we only know one thing for sure: That he is one of the best MMA fighters of all time.”
Jones appears on the list alongside fellow fighter Floyd Mayweather, as well as figures such as Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Kanye West, Bryan Cranston, and Elon Musk.
UFC president Dana White previously made the list in 2011, clocking in at #38.
