Although the UFC has made no official announcements as of yet, according to FightSportAsia.com, featherweights Tatsuya Kawajiri and Hacran Dias will face off in January at the UFC Fight Night event in Singapore.
Tatsuya Kawajiri has had a long illustrious career as a professional mixed martial arts fighter in Asia, amassing an overall professional record of 32-7-2. Kawajiri’s last loss was in 2011 against Gilbert Melendez, since then, he has won five fights in a row, with four finishes and only one decision.
Having signed a contact with the UFC last month, it seems the UFC has finally found an opponent for him to make his debut against.
It’s rumored that Kawajiri will face off against Hacran Dias. The Brazilian known as “Barnabe” is currently 1-1 in the UFC, but his overall record is 21-2-1. Of his twenty-one victories, nine of them have been achieved via submission, so he will likely try to take Kawajiri to the ground.
If the rumors are true and this fight is being set up, it should be an interesting bout. Any fight with Kawajiri is going to be entertaining, the “Crusher” is well rounded and explosive. Also, Dias has a lot of pressure going into this fight because he doesn’t want to lose two in a row. Losing two fights in the UFC is usually grounds to get cut for newcomers like Dias.
