Wanderlei Silva and Chael Sonnen have been chosen by the UFC to be opposing coaches on The Ultimate Fighter Brazil: 3.
The two already dislike one another, and they even had a confrontation at the Mr. Olympia Expo in Las Vegas, which resulted in them having to be separated.
In a recent interview with MMAfighting.com, Silva talked about how excited he was to coach against Sonnen in the third season of The Ultimate Fighter Brazil.
“It’s perfect, I’m glad to be part of The Ultimate Fighter again,” Silva said.
Silva also suggested certain changes he would like to make on the show to make it more interesting.
“I believe it could be even more interesting with Chael coaching American fighters,” said the former Pride Champion. “We need big ratings. If we don’t pull good numbers on the TV we might not get another season [in Brazil], so we need to do a good show for the fans, and I believe it would be better with a Brazil vs. USA season. It makes no sense to have him here coaching Brazilian fighters.”
Silva is so enthusiastic about the idea that he even texted UFC President Dana White about it. As of yet, the UFC has not confirmed the issue.
Additionally, “The Axe Murderer” had some interesting comments about how he will manage to work with Sonnen for six straight weeks.
“It will be tough. He’s a douche bag, but that’s part of the deal.”
Before flying off to Brazil to coach TUF, Sonnen is set to face off against Rashad Evans on November 16th.
“Rashad will destroy him,” Silva said. “He doesn’t have what it takes to defeat Rashad. And I will beat what’s left of him next.”
