It appears as if being knocked out by Dong Hyun Kim has not bruised Erick Silva’s ego the slightest bit. The twenty-nine year old Brazilian has recently called out one of the best fighters in his weight class via twitter.

His tweet was in Portuguese, so Guilherme Cruz did the courtesy of translating the tweet into English.

Silva tweeted: Demian, what do you think of getting back to the wins vs. a guy with a bad ground game and terrible takedown defense like me?

It seems as though Silva is desperately trying to bait Demian Maia into a fight, but the fish he’s trying to catch might be too strong for him to handle.

Maia is one of the best grapplers on the planet. He recently lost a split decision to Jake Shields, but that still doesn’t take anything away from his past accomplishments. He holds victories over many notable fighters such as: Nate Query, Chael Sonnen, Kendal Grove, and Jon Fitch.

Silva has gone 3-3 since joining the UFC roster, and Maia is definitely looking to rebound off his loss to shields.

The UFC has not made any official announcements on regarding future opponents for Maia or Silva, so in the meantime, Silva will just have to be patient.

Steve became interested in combat sports when he joined his high school’s wrestling team as freshman. His experience as a wrestler sparked his interest in mixed martial arts when he recognized the compatibility between the two sports. From there, he continued to wrestle all throughout college until he earned his bachelor’s degree in history. Steve’s interests in combat sports center mostly around grappling, but he’s also interested in the history of the sport and where it’s headed in the future.
