Vinicius Queiroz has withdrawn from his scheduled Bellator 107 bout against Cheick Kongo due to an injury. Former kickboxer Peter Graham will be stepping in as Kongo’s replacement opponent.
Graham had a rough start in MMA. Initially only winning one of his first six fights. Having switched over to MMA from kickboxing, he struggled to learn the ground game and lost five fights by submission early in his career. However, the Australian has shown appreciable improvements since his novice days and is currently on an eight-fight winning streak. His overall professional record is 9-5, and eight of his nine wins have been won by some sort of knockout.
Kongo was cut from the UFC in April after losing to Roy Nelson via KO in the first round. His most recent win was a second round TKO over Mark Godbeer at Bellator 102. He holds wins over notable MMA fighters such as, Mirko Filipovic, Pat Barry and Paul Buentello.
The fans can expect an exciting striking battle as both fighters are known to prefer to stand and bang rather than grapple on the mat.
Kongo does have the height advantage and is also the more experienced fighter. However, Graham has displayed that he’s capable of delivering some devastating knockouts.
