Less than a week after the UFC announced that former title contender Alexander Gustafsson would meet Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in London, the bout has already been scrapped.
Nogueira has reportedly dropped out of the bout due to a back injury.
UFC president Dana White confirmed the news with Ariel Helwani earlier today. White also added that no plans are currently in place for a replacement opponent for Gustafsson.
Nogueira has a long history of pulling out of bouts due to injuries. He has previously cancelled UFC fights against Rich Franklin, Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and coincidentally, Gustafsson last year. He last fought against Rashad Evans in February, picking up a unanimous decision victory.
The match up had previously been scheduled to headline the promotion’s return to the UK in March 2014.
