Alexander Gustafsson recently shocked the world when he gave current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones a run for his money at UFC 165. Although he ended up losing a controversial unanimous decision, many expected him to get a rematch against the champ sometime soon. It looks like soon is later than we thought.
“The Mauler” is currently set to face Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Antonio Rogerio Nogueira on March 8 in London, England.
Nogueira has not fought since February earlier this year when he defeated former UFC Light Heavyweight Champ Rashad Evans by unanimous decision. Less than two months prior, he earned a TKO victory over UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz.
Unfortunately, Nogueira’s UFC career has been plagued by injuries, causing him to be more inactive than he’d prefer. If he manages to beat the younger, larger Gustafsson, that would definitely shake up the light heavyweight division in the UFC.
