According to a new report, the WSOF is planning a rubber match between Josh Burkman and Jon Fitch, if both of them are victorious at WSOF 6 that is.
Sherdog reported the news, citing a source “close to the organization.”
Burkman and Fitch have faced each other twice before, with Fitch picking up the win in 2006, and Burkman victorious in June of this year. Coincidentally, both of their wins were via submission.
Now, both fighters will are scheduled for bouts at this weekend’s World Series of Fighting 6. Fitch will be facing Marcelo Alfaya, while Burkman will defend the welterweight title against Steve Carl.
If each of them can pick up a respective victory, Fitch just might get a second chance at the title, and a shot at scooping up that coveted rubber match.
