UFC President Dana White prides himself on making the fights that fans want to see. One of his recent tweets might just continue that trend.
On Tuesday, White answered a fan that proposed a fight between two of the UFC’s most popular stars, Nick Diaz and Michael. The boss’ response was all positive.
@UFC_AllDay I love that fight

Would either Bisping or Diaz accept the fight then became the question. Diaz doesn’t get very vocal on Twitter, but “The Count” was more than happy to give his take on the proposed match-up.
@arielhelwani well if Diaz wants a fight at 185 I would happily welcome him to the division.

Bisping is coming off a technical decision over Alan Belcher at UFC 159. Prior to that, he dropped a tough loss to Vitor Belfort when the Brazilian landed a head kick on the British fighter and finished him off with punches. A fight with Diaz, although not detrimental to his place in the rankings, would surely be considered for at least a co-main event, perhaps even a main event for a FOX show.
Diaz hasn’t made his opinion on the potential fight public just yet. His apparent retirement is too appealing at the moment, according to his training partner Gilbert Melendez, to come out of. But if the right fight is offered to him, Melendez said, Diaz might just make a return to the octagon.
“Sometimes you have to come back up the ladder in your career and I don’t think he wants that,” Melendez told reporters about Diaz earlier this week in Los Angeles. “I think he wants to fight top-level competition. He doesn’t need to fight just to take it.”
Diaz last fought in March, a losing effort to UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. Following the loss, Diaz said he’s retiring from the sport, but that may change some time in the near future.
