After being cut from the UFC, Jon Fitch made his way to the WSOF where he was defeated in his debut bout against Josh Burkman. Now it seems he’s looking to give something besides competition a try, and is moving across the country to head up the mixed martial arts program at a gym in New York.
The gym is called Pacific Health Club, and it’s a massive 90,000 square foot fitness center with 8,000 square feet of mat space and two full sized cages. That sounds like a dream job for anyone who wants to teach MMA. Fitch though, seems attracted by the financial benefits.
“There are financial things to take into consideration — it’s a salaried job with guaranteed income and health benefits for my family,” Fitch said to MMAFighting in an interview.
Fitch will be leading the MMA and grappling program at the gym, and is also trying to start his own fight team. He’ll also continue to conduct his training camps at the American Kickboxing Academy facility in San Jose, California.
As far as competition goes, Fitch isn’t calling it quits just yet. He’s slated to face Marcelo Alfaya at WSOF 6 on October 26.
