Former Bellator bantamweight champion Zach Makovsky will fight for the Resurrection Fighting Alliance flyweight title in a bout against Matt Manzanares at RFA 11, promotion officials recently announced.
The card will take place Nov. 22 at 1stBANK Center in Denver, and will air live on AXS TV.
“There was no better place to hold RFA 11 than Denver, the city where MMA as we know it was launched 20 years ago,” said Ed Soares, RFA President. “Not only are we bringing fans in Denver an event where they can gather to celebrate this anniversary, but we are also presenting a completely stacked card topped by a championship headliner between two of the most complete and exciting flyweight fighters in the sport: Matt Manzanares, a dynamic fan favorite vs. Zach Makovsky, a former world champion. On Nov. 22 at RFA 11, the RFA will crown another great champion and salute the rise of MMA live from the 1stBank Center.”
Makovsky was cut from Bellator after dropping two straight fights, the first being a title fight against Eduardo Dantas, the second being a split-decision loss to Anthony Leone. The regional MMA circuit has been his home since then.
Matt Manzanares (5-1) has made the RFA his home for his last three outings, nabbing two out of three in that stretch. All five of his career wins have have been finishes.
