Bellator champ Ben Askren confirmed last week that he has no interest in retiring until he can “beat up” UFC champ Georges St-Pierre. Now he’s added that when he does get a crack at GSP, he’s not worried, calling him “easy prey.”
“Once I figured out GSP’s dark place didn’t really exist I knew he would be easy prey,” Askren tweeted, in reference to GSP’s comment that he was going to a “dark place” before his fight with Nate Diaz.
“Seriously though GSP in 2009 prob would have beat me, but this current version fights way too scared,” he added.
In response to criticism that he is a “lay and pray” fighter (a comment often thrown at GSP as well), the Bellator champ wasn’t fazed.
“I will lay on GSP for as long as I damn well please,” he wrote.
Whether the undefeated Askren will end up in the UFC, or if he’ll be resigned by Bellator is still a mystery. Either way, a cross-promotional fight between him and Georges St-Pierre would surely be a hot-ticket event.
