Yushin Okami has officially been removed from the UFC’s top 10 rankings. Under normal circumstances, the UFC rankings are updated after a recent event. Considering how sudden and unexpected Okami’s departure was though, these are obviously very special circumstances.
Okami was previously ranked at #6, ahead of Mark Munoz, and just behind Luke Rockhold. With this cut, 7-10 on the list has moved up a spot, with the 10th position on the list blank for now. The empty slot will be updated after the next pertinent event, likely the UFC Fight Night match up between Demian Maia and Jake Shields.
Despite this recent update, you can bet that most fans and analysts still consider Okami a top 10 middleweight. The WSOF is reportedly in negotiations with him, but it remains to be seen where the fighter will end up.
