WMMA Pioneer Gina Carano Lands a New Movie Role

Despite never officially retiring, it seems less and less likely that Gina Carano will ever return to competitive MMA, especially if she keeps landing movie gigs. Her latest is the starring role in the upcoming action film, “In the Blood.”

Carano will be starring alongside Stephen Lang, Danny Trejo, and Luis Guzman, among others, in the film. Carano will play a woman whose husband disappears on their honeymoon, prompting her to investigate what happened. Twentieth Century Fox is distributing the film, with a planned release on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Video on Demand, although a release date has not yet been set.

Carano has previously appeared in action movies, such as “Haywire “and this year’s “Fast & Furious 6.” The former “face of women’s MMA” has not had a cage fight since her loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino in 2009.
