Number 10 ranked bantamweight Takeya Mizugaki has been paired with Nam Phan for a match up scheduled for UFC Fight Night 33.
UFC officials confirmed the bout this past weekend.
Mizugaki is currently on a three fight winning streak, with his latest over Erik Perez at UFC Fight Night 27. He previously contested the WEC bantamweight title in 2009, and is currently 5-2 in the UFC, and 18–7–2 in his MMA career.
Perennial fan favorite Nam Phan will be using this opportunity to move up to bantamweight from featherweight. He will be looking to rebound after a decision loss to Dennis Siver at UFC on Fox: Henderson vs. Diaz. He is currently 2-4 in the UFC, and despite his popularity, may find himself in the next round of cuts if he can’t pick up a win here. Phan is 18-11 overall.
UFC Fight Night 33 will take place on December 7 (December 6 in the US) at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Australia. It will be headlined by a heavyweight bout between Mark Hunt and Antonio Silva. The event will air live on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2.
The current card is as follows:
• Mark Hunt vs. Antonio Silva
• Mauricio Rua vs. James Te Huna
• Ryan Bader vs. Anthony Perosh
• Takeya Mizugaki vs. Nam Phan
• Pat Barry vs. Soa Palelei
• Dylan Andrews vs. Clint Hester
• Caio Magalhaes vs. Nick Ring
