Michael Bisping has officially withdrawn from his scheduled bout with Mark Munoz at UFC Fight Night 30 due to an eye injury, according to a report on Friday.
Stepping in to replace him will be former light heavyweight champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida, who will use this opportunity to make a move to middleweight.
“We’re going to get [Bisping] the best treatment possible,” UFC president Dana White said to ESPN.com. “Hopefully he’ll be able to get through this thing.”
Machida had previously been scheduled to face Tim Kennedy at UFC Fight for the Troops 3. No replacement has been named for this bout yet.
Bisping had previously undergone surgery for the eye due to a detached retina suffered earlier this year.
UFC Fight Night 30 will take place on Oct. 26 at the Phones 4U Arena in Manchester, England, with Machida vs Munoz as the headliner.
