One-time UFC middleweight title challenger Yushin Okami has been released from the UFC, according to a report on Friday.
MMAFighting.com confirmed with UFC officials that Okami was let go from the organization, following a loss to “Jacare” Souza at UFC Fight Night 28 earlier this month. The loss was Okami’s first in his last four outings.
Three other fighters, Ben Alloway, Papy Abedi, and James Head, have also been released from their contracts.
Alloway debuted strong in the UFC with a KO win, but subsequently dropped his last two fights against Ryan LaFlare and Zak Cummings.
Abedi was a highly anticipated welterweight prospect, and debuted against former title contender Thiago Alves. Unfortunately, he lost by submission in the first round, kicking off a 1-3 run in the UFC.
Head went 3-0 in the organization, but has struggled lately, losing consecutive bouts to Mike Pyle and Jason High.
