Despite some rumblings that Jones may have reinjured his foot during his recent title defense against Alexander Gustafsson, it seems the reigning LHW champ will be back to 100% in no time at all.
“Just got back from a MRI,” Jones wrote in a tweet. “Great news! my foot is not broken or fractured.. Focusing on a full recovery.”
The champ had previously injured that same foot five months before in a bout with Chael Sonnen. After the UFC 165 title fight, his striking coach Mike Winkeljohn expressed his concern that Jones may have “shattered” it. Luckily, the MRI results came back with good news.
Jones can now focus on recovering from his all-out war with Gustafsson, and begin preparations for either a rematch, or a match up with #1 contender Glover Teixeira.
